Edward Bodenham Biography

Edward Bodenham is the Perfumery Director and 9th generation family member of Floris, the family owned the oldest independent British perfume house in the world, established in London in 1730 by his ancestor Juan Famenias Floris.

Edward grew up regularly visiting the perfumery to help blend fragrances with his grandfather and father. He would work on the shop floor and in the perfumery on the premises as a young man, later studying as an apprentice to his relatives and to the Floris in-house perfumer.

After spending several years studying the outside world of perfumery, working with the major houses Lancôme, Rochas, Paco Rabanne, and Calvin Klein, Edward followed in the steps of his forefathers and joined his father at Floris, where for over 25 years he has assisted in running the business and has helped creating fragrances for a new generation of Floris customers, adding to the Floris repertoire of perfume making spanning almost 300 years.

With his team of in-house perfumers, based at 89 Jermyn Street, Edward works to create unique and timeless fragrances fashioned with love for detail, inspired by respect and dedication.

Edward and his team can be found at 89 Jermyn Street in the perfumery behind the founding shop where we have created all our fragrances since 1730. In this same perfumery Edward learnt his craft as a boy from his grandfather, where at that time the fragrances were blended in the basement beneath the store.
