The Story
The Chloé campaign for Autumn-Winter 2016 unfolds in the travelling spirit of the Maison, capturing idyllic moments of intimacy and ‘winter sun’ somewhere in the hills of Puglia in southern Italy. Captured against the unspoiled Mediterranean beauty of the region with its palette of pale stone strata and white-washed villages, the Chloé girls escape into the sun’s fading light, their gaze fixed on new horizons.
Celebrating a woman’s journey along the road less travelled, the Autumn-Winter 2016 season is inspired by the journals of French explorer Anne France Dautheville, who travelled the globe on her motorbike in the early 1970’s. Her carefree, independent attitude is captured in the motocross trousers and shearling outerwear that mingles with the fragility of iconic Chloé flou pieces.
“There is such a bold sense of duality in this collection – that natural toughness and fragility of women side by side. We wanted to explore that through the campaign images with an ambiguous and cinematic atmosphere that allows each girl to emerge as a strong character. The Cinematography
The feeling of a curious, personal narrative is constructed throughout the Autumn-Winter 2016 campaign - the second shot by American photographer Theo Wenner for the Maison.
The mood of his dynamic images is both studied and instinctual, as Wenner artfully plays with the imperfections of natural light, the effects of moving fabric or skin, and the filmic depth of ‘grain’.
Shadows play across walls, and carefully cropped views suggest both intimacy and an element of the unseen. Wenner inspires a direct, emotive gaze from the Chloé girls, capturing the honest and human interaction of photographer and subject.
The Girls
Strong and wistful, a cast of Chloé girls from the Autumn-Winter 2016 runway embody the Chloé spirit of elegant, natural beauty. The brand new cast features Sofie Hemmet, Michi Kat, Ellen De Weer and Frederikke Sofie, each contributing their unique and authentic allure to the season’s Chloé attitude.
